Ironwood Singers: Live at Rosebud Fair / Northern Plains
The Ironwood Singers are a traditional Lakota singing group from Rosebud, South Dakota, and have been singing together for many years. They can sing many kinds of songs, but their speciality is their traditional songs and their ability to sing exactly the right song for a particular occasion, and to sing it well. This album, recorded live at the 102nd Rosebud Fair Wacipi in 1978 provides some outstanding traditional Lakota singing and songs by this well known group. Background notes and translations of the Lakota lyrics for each song are provided by the singers.
"The Ironwood Singers" est un groupe de chanteurs traditionnel Lakota originaires de Rosebud, Sud du Dakota et chantent ensemble depuis plusieurs années. Ils peuvent chanter plusieurs sortes de chants et sont habiles à chanter exactement la bonne chanson par une situation particulière et la chanter bien de surcroît. Cet album enregistré en concert à la 102ème faire de Rosebud, Wacipi en 1978, fournit quelques remarquables chansons et chants traditionnels Lakota de ce groupe bien connu. Les notes et traductions du Lakota lyrique de chaque chanson proviennent des chanteurs.
