Yellowhammer: Live at Hollywood, Florida / Southern Plains
Yellowhammer is a traditional Southern Plains style singing group from north central Oklahoma, and consists of members of the Ponca and Otoe-Missouria tribes of Oklahoma. Since 1992, Yellowhammer has sung at powwows from coast to coast and have quickly become known for their excellent repertory of traditional Ponca and Otoe songs and their many new intertribal compositions. They recently won first place in the Southern Plains singing competition at the prestigious Schemitzun '95 in Connecticut. This album, recorded in February of '95, presents al lively performance or their fine traditional and intertribal songs.
"Yellowhammer" est un groupe de chanteurs traditionnel du style des plains du Sud au Nord-central de l'Oklahoma, les membres sont constitués de Ponca et Otoe-Missouria, tribus d'Oklahoma. Depuis 1992, Yellowhammer a chanté à Powwows à côté et ont su rapidement se faire connaître pour leur excellent répertoire de chants traditionnels de Ponca et d'Otoe ainsi que pour leurs compositions intertribales. Ils ont récemment gagné la première place lors de la compétition de chant des plaines du Sud au prestigieux Schemitzun en 1995 au Connecticut. Cet album enregistré en Février 95 représente une performance vivante de leurs superbes chants traditionnels et intertribaux.
