Night & daylight yeibichei / Southwest
The Navajo Yeibichei is the public portion of a nine day healing ceremony performed only in the winter months to cure a patient suffering from eye, ear trouble, or paralysis of some part of the body. This recording presents five Night Yeibichei songs and five rare Daylight Yeibichei songs sung by Boniface Bonnie and group. Recorded at Klagetoh, Arizona, in 1968. Excellent example of old-style Yeibichei singing and seldom-heard songs with rattle accompaniment.
The Navajo Yeibichei est la partie publique d'une cérémonie de guérison durant neuf jours, exercée uniquement pendant les mois d'hiver pour soigner les patients qui souffrent de troubles occulaires, auditifs ou de paralysies de quelques parties du corps.
Cet enregistrement représente cinq chansons Night Yeibichei et cinq chansons rares Daylight Yeibichei chantées par Boniface Bonnie et son groupe. Enregistré à Klagetoh, Arizona en 1968. Excellent exemple de vieux style Yeibichei chanté et rarement entendu avec un accompagnement de rattle (petites pierres dans une boîte, ici une gourde).
